4 weeks old - already!!!

Lots has been going on since my last post as I am sure you can imagine.  Here is a brief recap...

Papa Sprenkel (Scott's dad) came out the day after Leilani was born. Maya was super excited to get to spend some time with him and we were happy he was able to make it out!

First few days/nights at home went well. Lots different than with Maya as we knew more of what to expect. Leilani loved to be snuggled up against someone so there were many nights Scott or I found ourselves sleeping in a chair in our room. These days wont last long so we were ok with that :)

When Leilani was 5 days old, we had to take her to the doctor for a weight check. She was down to 6lbs 3oz but the pediatrician wasn't too concerned. Other than that, it was a great appointment. She said that we didn't have to come back till she was 2 weeks old.

Scott stayed home half days for most of the first week and that was wonderful. Maya decided each day if she wanted to go to school or stay home with us. Maya instantly loved her sister and wanted to help all the time. She loves to hold her, give her kisses and just be right by her.

My mom and Paul came for a visit when Leilani was a week old. It was great to see them and just get to hang out and relax! I sure do miss her being a block away but it just makes the time we do spend together that much more sweet!

At her 2 week appointment, she weighed 6lbs 6oz so 1oz shy of her birth weight. She is tiny! Her doctor wasn't too concerned as long as she continues to gain weight and is still on the growth chart at her 2 month appointment. She was at 5% for weight and 25% for height. Overall, she said she is looking great and to keep doing what we were doing. I love to hear that!!

During the week, Leilani and i just really hang out and bond. it is really special time for us and it is already going too quickly! She eats about every 3 hours (sometimes every 2 or sometimes 4 hours). She still loves to snuggle while she sleeps but is ok just stretching out on the floor or swinging in the swing. At night, she gets a bottle around 10:30 or 11 and we attempt to put her to sleep in her bassinet. Most nights she is ok with that, but some nights Scott still ends up in the chair. Then around 2:30 or 3 she wakes up and I feed her. Then she goes back to sleep till around 6:30. No complaints here on her night schedule!!!

I have been pumping 6 times a day and am able to get around 45oz a day. I am able to freeze a good amount as she is only eating about 16oz a day. Pumping is going so much better this time around so I am hoping to continue for awhile. We have also been battling thrush, so Leilani has been getting meds 4 times a day for the past 2.5 weeks. Hopefully we are able to beat it soon!! Maya had it too so at least we knew what we were getting into.

Last weekend Scott's mom came to visit and we had a wonderful time! Maya and her made Halloween sugar cookies and she got lots of snuggle time with the littlest one. It was great to see her.

phewww...that was quite an update! Overall, we have nothing to complain about. Becoming a family of four has been more than i could have ever imagined. You worry you wont be able to love another child like the first, but it just happens! We have so much love, pride and joy for both Maya & Leilani. I couldn't imagine anything different now!! Of course there are stressful moments for Scott and I, a breakdown from Maya or a crying fit in the car from Leilani but overall we feel so blessed for each day we get to spend with our girls!
