We are back from the Bahamas and had such a wonderful time - we cant wait to plan our next trip back!!! Our trip did start out a little rocky though. We were to leave DSM on Thursday around 1, however, our flight was delayed due to mechanical problems. We ended up missing our connection in Atlanta and spent the night in the glorious Red Roof Inn. Not quite the Bahamas but you cant be picky when the airline is paying for your room. Here is a picture of our glorious room - but it fails to show the laundry room that was on the other side of the wall with the tv - did you know people really do laundry at 3am??
We were finally on our way to the Bahamas around 10 the next morning and we couldnt have been more excited. Maya absolutely loves airplanes and couldnt wait to get to "the hamas". We arrived at our hotel around 1. While I checked in, Scott & Maya found the gift shop and found a must have basket with sand toys and a cute pair of shorts. Maya insisted she wore the shorts multiple times but hey we were on vacation and anything goes right?! :)
We unpacked some but really just wanted to go enjoy the pool, the beach, the ocean - everything we had been so patiently waiting for. Maya loved to swim in the pool with her tube and would walk down the hallway to the pool with it around her waist. 
The rest of our trip consisted of playing on the beach, swimming, catching a crab and watching it move about, eating some delicious food, walking the beach at night, and just relaxing as a family!!! We never did make it into town or to the Atlantis - maybe next time. It was a wonderful trip and we cant wait go back!!!
